OUR VALUES

At 42 Degrees it is incredibly important to us that we are doing all in our power to ensure the festival is having as little negative impact on the environment as possible and that we as a collective are contributing to tackling the climate crisis. Our festival of arts and music is about creativity, community, diversity and experience, but facilitating this involves resources and operations which can have serious consequences for the environment and the climate.

Celebrating creativity is the essence of 42 Degrees. Our mission is to develop an immersive space where people feel safe and comfortable to let their imagination run wild. Through showcasing, experimenting with and combining art-forms, we hope to encourage open-mindedness and respect for new ideas amongst our community. We hope to grow a community through a shared love for the arts.

42 Degrees celebrates the diversity of artists, art forms and the experiences elicited. We are passionate about developing a community where people feel comfortable to express themselves, share ideas and learn from one another. We are working to incorporate fair opportunities and accessibility in all aspects of our festival, through the artists performing, audience attending, organisations we work with and committee selected. We recognise that creating a truly inclusive culture is a journey, but one we are committed to. 

A sense of belonging is fundamental to a growing community. We are so grateful to host 42 Degrees in the Lake District and are keen to celebrate artists and organisations based around this beautiful setting. Showcasing these artists also adds a unique insight into growing up/living in these areas. So to develop our community further, we are passionate that 42 Degrees inspires future generations of artists. We believe personal experiences from up-and-coming local artists, discussing the hurdles they have and continue to overcome, are paramount to this.
